for disc replacement operation
The DiscAssist is a software-based product that is installed on the C-arm computer or on the laptop, and allows the surgeon to pre-operatively plan the appropriate size, and placement of artificial discs in disc replacement surgery.
Disc replacement surgery is a fast growing sector in the spinal surgery market. By making artificial disc placement easier and safer, DiscAssist will help increase the satisfaction of patients, surgeons, and disc manufacturers.
The DiscAssist has the capability to superimpose pre-operative plan (CT) images with inter-operative fluoro images. Every time the surgeon takes a fluoro (x-ray) image, the system shows on the C-arm screen where the tool and pointer is relative to the superimposed preoperative plan.
The DiscAssist is currently in clinical trials and will be commercially available in the near future.
